In the UK there are two accreditation bodies, the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) and Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) Ltd (CPA).   These two bodies have formed a partnership which is aimed at strengthening the authority and reputation of accreditation both in the UK and internationally by bringing together two organisations with established reputations in their respective fields. 

CPA is the governing body for all pathology laboratories in the UK and is committed to providing a service of the highest quality and makes itself aware and takes into consideration the needs and requirements of all interested parties.  CPA is of vital importance for UK laboratories as it allows clients to send samples with the clear knowledge that they are dealing with a government registered laboratory.
